That’s a quick one, for GuitarNoise, because I read the site almost everyday and I found there a lot of interesting electric guitars: man, you should review this one, it is one of the strangest guitar I have seen so far, how many dare to go on stage with this one? I know I wouldn’t!
How about you ?

Well you’ve beaten me to it!
That is a very strange looking guitar, my friend’s dad used to have one very similar back in the 80’s it may have been a Danelectro and it felt very strange, not the most comfortable design. I think the grey sunburst accentuates those horns too and makes it look even more pronounced. It’s kind of like a 70’s version of a B.C. Rich! nice find!

Indeed, one of the strangest guitars I have seen and I have the feeling that is not designed to look strange but to find it’s own way. Because I have also seen electric guitars designed just to look strange. This one I think that tries to find it’s way around.
For Jon: About your dad’s friend, I guess he loved it since we all love out toys and I have also seen people playing strange looking guitars with the biggest possible joy. It is all about the feeling.
For axl… as you know, I don’t dare go on stage with that! You know my taste in music better than a lot of people. By the way, I think you wouldn’t dare also

What’s the big deal? I don’t get it.
I’d much prefer a Danelectro (which play great, btw) than a BC Rich or Kramer or something hideous like that.

For GLW: thanks for commenting, hope to see you back. By the way, I didn’t play a Danelectro guitar, so I can not tell you how playable it is. You say that it plays great, so you must know, I don’t argue with that. Just that it is very ugly

I think I’d have to go head to head with you on that one GL, I’d take a Kramer over a Danelectro but maybe not a B.C. Rich!

[…] I have just visited Paul Gilbert’s website, http://www.paulgilbert.com. He has a section called magazines featuring magazine covers presenting him. Used to seeing him with his signature models, it was strange to see him using some guitar that I think it is a Danelectro Longhorn. Check the picture, I think I am not wrong and compare it to the one here. […]

Kramers are vile. Firewood in my opinion.

I’d love to take a Dano Longhorn like that to the stage. For me, the stranger, the better.

Hey, one man’s ugly is another man’s punk rock. There’s a video on YouTube of Link Wray in 1960 playing a Danelectro Longhorn. Checkitout:

Not his best tune ever, IMHO, but it’s cool to see…
