Warning: this post should interest everyone of you people having a guitar related site!!!
As you probably know, these last days I have started to think on how to make this blog about guitars make some money because one way or an other I need to pay for hosting and I also invest time in writing articles. So far, the income generated by this blog is very low and does not help me very much.
I am sure that everyone of you reading this blog finds himself in a similar situation, isn’t it?
Don’t you feel that your blog can earn more money that it currently does?
I know I feel it because I run other websites where I have a good return on my investment while this site brings me money just about to buy peanuts.
So, these last days I have done some research about what revenue possibilities are for a blog about guitars and this morning I have found this site, GuitarAlliance.com that offers a smooth way to monetize your guitar site.
Seems that there are more sites in this network that you can promote in order to get a share of their sales:
All you need to do is to create an account on GuitarAlliance.com and add a small banner in a visible area of your site. It is that easy, after this, it all depends on your traffic and on how visible the banner is. You will get a percent out of everything people will buy from those sites coming from your guitar blog. So, you will only have to worry about what to write on your blog, and not how to pay for hosting! Get it?
By the way, I have found out about this thanks to GuitarMX and his free guitar lessons, thanks buddy ![]()

Thanks for this good guitar site revenue idea. I’ll be checking out your suggestions for future use.
I’m curious to know what your other, better money making, sites are about. It seems that many guitarists are looking for free stuff on the Internet and maybe are not willing to pay a lot.
Just look how many fiercely defend free tab sites. I for one would be quite happy to pay a little for tab or sheet notation. It seems only fair as someone has invested their own hard work to create the songs.

Gary

Monetizing a site makes it more authentic looking in my view. Since every site I frequent has ads those that don’t look and feel odd. Of course, if it isn’t done tastefully (meaning the only reason for the page is to push ads in the reader’s face) it is a real turnoff. I’ve been blogging for 6 months now and will keep going as long as it stays interesting. I sure don’t expect it to allow me to quit my day job though :-).

@Gary: there are sites about web design, free templates mostly. I have no site about guitar tabs, even if the intention was to add here guitar tabs. Seems that I didn’t succeed
@Pete: Well, yes, it is a trend, everybody would like to make money. We all love to write about guitars but if we also manage to make some money out of it, then it’s perfect!

eBay has been pretty good for me. I’m an affiliate for Musician’s Friend, Zzounds, Music123 and a few other retailers, but none of them do well for me. eBay pulls in people though.

@Stratoblogster: That’s very good to know, thanks for the tip! I have also tried eBay once on an other site but I have stopped practically before really starting it. I think it was something related ot their agreement policy or country, I don’t remember, I will look to see why, because if you say it works well for you, then it may worth a good try.
