Help me WIN the Bloggin Idol 2 Contest, subscribe to my RSS feeds!

Carvin guitarsMan, I have one thing that really bothers me since a long time and I just need to say it here: I hate guitar giveaways that are only open to US (+District of Columbia + in some cases Canada)!!

How could you possible be so cruel?!

You give away for free $1600 guitars like this Carvin one here and you don’t allow people from all around the world to enter. Damn, it’s frustrating! I would surely want to have the chance to put my hand on this!

I have recently seen a giveaway like this at Ibanez and one at Gibson. Of course, they are all open to US residents only. Sucks big time!

So if you are eligible, go and fetch that guitar above for me. If you get it and you found out about it from this article here, please let me know, I would be thrilled to know at least that I have helped a fellow guitar fan to win a great axe!

I hear you. There are too many people who think it’s the American Wide Web not the World Wide Web.

Fender are some of the worst culprits.

It is really frustrating, so many guitar give aways and only for US…

There is a reason those contests are US only. It is because different countries around the world have different laws regarding such contests or drawings. It is difficult to maintain a consistent set of rules for everyone when the laws can be so different.

Still, I do think these companies that have international sales should at least offer contests for various regions. Why not have a guitar drawing for the entire EU (where laws are relatively consistent)

Indeed, you have a point, but I do want to be eligible for such contents. And USA music instruments manufacturers organize often such contests, I want to be able to participate. It is very annoying to see the prize and see you can not enter.

Most of the time, they don’t include Canada either, and if they do include other countries you are responsible for taxes and duty, etc, etc.
Depending on the giveawy you could still wind up paying for a big chunk of the prize’s value–but still…

Indeed, but I still would want to be part of it.

I think people at USA should donate .. I repeat .. no contests .. simple distribution .. free distribution of guitars to poor countries like India ..

I’d like to see this, Sid, but only in your dreams ;-)

Show me one of us who’s going to let his lovely guitar go and donate it…well, anyone?
