A quick and happy(for me) news now: yesterday I placed an order for a brand new guitar!
Yep, for real! I ordered one of those modeling guitars that I’ve got so crazy about, I have ordered a Line 6 Variax 600 Blue, the guitar in the picture here.
But since the color is not so “usual”, they don’t have it on stock for the moment, so I have to wait for 2 weeks to bring it from wherever they bring it, Germany or UK, I think. I am usually the typical customer to buy a black (electric)guitar and in the beginning when I saw this color, i said WTF is that? The most stupid color ever!! I have first seen it on Fender, along with a crazy green, but after looking again and again, I’ve fallen in love with this color for good! It has a vintage look…
However, my band mates still think it looks stupid…

So, two long weeks of waiting…oh, well…

“However, my band mates still think it looks stupid…”
See, to me, that’s enough reason to get the blue one right there. It’s good to display a little independence within the band.
Something I’ve noticed, over the years is this; with factory made instruments, there is still a degree of variance from piece to piece. And, if you get one in the oddball color, a lot of times it’s better. People think I’m nuts on this but, I’ve seen it happen a lot of times. I think that the people in the factory may take a little more care with the “different” looking pieces to make them special.

Eh, Jack, I am not quite the guy to swim against the wave, but I really like this guitar so I purchased it(ok, for the moment payed just a part of it, to confirm the order). This is not a regular guitar, it is a high tech one so I just felt the sunburst was not right on it so I said that if I go on that road, at least let’s do it all the way! If this guitar would have been painted like Satriani’s chromed guitar, that would have been the color I would have picked
Sunburst is for classic guitars, that’s a wizardry!
I have never thought about it from this point of view, manufacturers working with care for strange looking instruments. I don’t know…
At one moment I wanted to change my car for an other one and out of their showroom catalog I picked the less common car, without intending to do so, they didn’t have it and they needed to bring it from Germany. It must be in my nature to make strange choices, who knows.

Like I said, people think I’m nuts on that but, I’ve worked in factories. If you do the same thing over and over, then all of the sudden something different come along, it’s a refreshing change and you perk up. You know the guy putting the necks on, he may do 50 sunbursts in a row then, a blue one; he might just say hmmm…I have this one neck over here that’s really good.
Anyway, I think that if you are investing money in a fine instrument, it is O.K. to make it stand out from the crowd. Musicians may scoff but, you aren’t playing for them, you play for regular people; hairdressers and welders. Regular people are going to notice it, because it looks different, and pay attention to the guitar. Which means they will pay more attention to what you are playing on the guitar.

You are right with what you say that if you make something 50 times, then if something different may come up, you give it more attention, it happens to me too, I think happens to everybody, I just never thought it may be the case in guitars, based on color
Regarding the second part, my friend owning the Variax 700 model told me that his guitar started a bit of buzz around because at a first glance, it has no pickups!! Red guitar, no pickups, a lot of people notice him
One more reason to go with the crazy blue

I had no idea that this guitar even existed, but I love Line 6 stuff. I don’t know about the color, but it doesn’t matter as long as it plays.
Keep riffin’!

Yeah, this one looks like a Fender Stratocaster in a way, I love it more than the rest of the models.

Congrat’s Ovidiu; –hope you love it! The demo vids really blew me away, but I didn’t really like the lowest model (300); –action was a bit high for me, plus I wanted some sort of tremolo. Still waiting to see the top of the line.

Thanks, Dr J! I am sure I will, considering all the research I have dine before ordering it! Top of the line is quite beautiful also, but it is more expensive than this one, for the exact same collection of sounds. Plus that this one represents me better, or at least I feel it this way, I am more of a Strat fan than a Gibson fan…

HA. You did buy it! Congratulations. I like this blue guitar. Where did you buy it from? Did you test it?
Ovidiu

Yep, I did! I didn’t test it, I rely on the fact that I played your guitar and since the sound is the same, is OK, even if this is 600 model and not 700 like yours. I ordered it from Bucharest, A.V. Audio Sys, cause the guaranty. Plus that I have managed to get a discount
If I would have ordered it online from Germany , for ex, it would have been more difficult with the guaranty and I wouldn’t have gotten a discount

Good job. As i know, they should have let you take the guitar that they have in the store, until your guitar arrives, but if you didn’t ask…..

They proposed me this when I first spoke to them about buying one and being in a rush, at the same time, but now I just didn’t want it. I will just wait for the blue one!

By the way, if you want to test it, after I receive it, give me a phone and we could meet at the rehearsal room for a beer and a jam
