Did you ever thought about what influence rock music has over people worldwide? I am always pleased to see artists outside rock music scene covering famous rock hits. Some of those covers come from people I wouldn’t have thought they enjoy rock music, like for example these cases below.
I know AC/DC is big, had a lot of hits and is in a position where everybody would like to sing one of their song, but man, Celine Dion, Anastacia , Shania Twain, Shakira singing AC/DC??!! This is a “must see” in my opinion!!
So, here we go:
Celine Dion and Anastacia singing “You shook me all night long” (pop rock version)
Shania Twain again with “You shook me all night long” (pop/country version, I love the slide on ACDC, I ask myself what Angus Young thought when he saw this video, because I don’t think he missed it!)
Shakira with “Back in black”, after you pass the first part, it is fine, considering Shakira’s singing style. I love the guitar part!
I consider these performances a tribute to monster band AC/DC, tribute that well known pop divas pay to somebody that made a mark on rock music. I consider it a form of respect, because when you are on top, you only sing somebody else’s songs if you really respect that artist.
Stumble that, people! Thanks!

Hey man,
First off I want to thank you for exposing this travesty. Celine Dion looked like an idiot doing an air guitar, Shania…Jesus, what can you say about that train wreck? While watching the Shakira video I kept thinking of that girl they were writing the song for in that movie Music and Lyrics. None of these women should do a Rock and Roll cover ever again. EVER! My ears have not bled so bad since I heard Hanna Montana do a Kiss cover. This was not respect but BLASPHEMY!

Well, Jay, I wouldn’t be that hard on them. Personally I enjoyed Celine Dion and Anastacia version, I am no fan of Celine, but I like Anastacia’s voice very much and her way of singing. I really think that at this level nobody covers somebody else’s song if it does not respect the artist. I really believe it.
I know the fans of the original band will probably don’t like it, I know that scratchy voice of Brian Johnson will always be the curse of anybody covering AC/DC’s songs. Probably UDO will be better at covering such a song, right? But let’s face it, if you overcome this thing with “non-rock” thing, these women are professional singers and they can not do a bad job as much as they would try.
OK, I couldn’t understand Shakira’s version up to a point, but I realize each of them tried to match the song to their way of being and singing, cause they don’t allow themselves to sound “copied”, they must put their own stamp on the song.

Feel I should point out Red House Painter’s lead singer Mark Kozelek made an album or reconsidered Bon Scott songs called What’s Next To The Moon. Good stuff, in a folkie sort of way.

I have to agree with Jay that this was sort of painful, especially the Shakira Back in Black cover. The guitar was nice on that, but Shakira herself has one move, and it’s shaking her butt. Not a fan. Now I see why I haven’t heard anything about her in a long time.

@Jay: Relax, buddy! I didn’t see it this way! I respect and welcome every person taking the time to comment on this blog! I just felt I kind of disagree with you in some way, so I made my point, you made yours! I respect that!
@Sans Direction: I don’t know that material, maybe I will find it to listen to it.
@Mike G:Yes, Shakira’s performance was not very successful, her way of singing has not very much to do with rock music.
