Gary of Thumbrella posted this strange 3 necks guitar on his website.
Two things I have to ask about this guitar:
1) What would you do with the middle neck? How does it sound actually, cause it has no hole under the strings.
2) Why would you put a bass guitar on the same box with a 6 string guitar? What would be the use of this?
Ah, I get it. Actually it is an ergonomic “band guitar”, you have there the solo, the rhythm and the bass guitarists playing all together on the same guitar.
And as usual, the rhythm guitar is squeezed between the solo guitar and the bass guitar and he doesn’t actually need to be heard so that’s the reason they didn’t assign him a hole.
That explains it…

I’m no expert (I should work on that), but I’m pretty sure there needn’t be a sound hole directly under the strings to get sound. Ovation comes to mind.
Sound is generated from an acoustic guitar by a transfer of energy from the strings to the bridge to the entire top panel of the guitar. The sound hole is there not to emit sound but to allow the panel to vibrate freely. The vibrations would be restricted if the chamber were sealed.
I know nothing about the optimum location for the sound hole, but I imagine it’s usually under the strings either by tradition or coincidence. That may happen to be the best spot for the top panel’s vibrations.

Looks like the early prototype to the Line 6 Variax guitar.
RE: between the holes:
It’s really no big deal. Rhythm guitarists are used to working between two @**holes.

@Joe: Yeah, I am sure you are right, considering so many guitars that have no direct sound hole, but you must agree that it looks kind of strange and I just had to make the joke!!
@ Dr J: Ha, ha , Dr J!! You couldn’t have said it better

You are all missing the bigger point. The reason that guitar was built is because this planet is too full of idiots with way too much time on their hands…..um, said the guy who comments on guitar/music/political blogs.
