OK, this morning I have been tagged by Zack from GuitarVibe.com from a post on TheOpenSource.com, seems he is part of a tag game. The rules are simple and I am going to list them here:

  • Link your original tagger(s)(I did, see links above), and list these rules on your blog.
  • Share seven facts about yourself in the post – some random, some weird.
  • Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
  • Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs and/or Twitter.

Hmm, semi-useless facts, this should be a dare, indeed, let’s see…

  1. I am born on 1st of April, I know I had a post about this on my blog. People don’t usually believe me, so you can just check my ID pictured in the post about it here.
  2. I have a beautiful and interesting family, that I only discovered about 2 years back. Things don’t always work the way you want in the beginning, but sometimes God works everything out the best possible way, I guess. Also I have a not so good relationship with another part of my family. I hope everything work out for the best because it matters to me. A lot.
  3. I love guitars but I wasn’t able to buy a new guitar for a very long time because I never found the money for it. I actually bought a new electric (read Variax) and other things related to music last year, after being motivated by this blog. I am happy about it and proud and I also plan to buy a new processor, probably a BOSS GT-10, I will see.
  4. I am currently taking classes for a Master in Business Administration in a local university. I have actually studied electronic engineering in university, I have a bachelor degree and a master degree in electronics, but honestly didn’t help me too much since I don’t know much about electronics anyway. Unfortunately I realized this after finishing the university. I now work as a programmer. Close enough.
  5. I am constantly looking for peace and quietness. I don’t like rush and mad times. I like to be in control of the situation and I don’t like to risk. If I have a pile of money, which doesn’t usually happen, I don’t just spend it, I plan my expenses for the next period so I don’t run into a stressful situation. My boss told me once this is(the need to peace,I mean) because of the fact that my life in the past hasn’t been peaceful at all so I now strive for peace and quiet. The fact is that I have been rushed into quite a few stressful situations in the past. Now I must be getting old…damn! I guess this doesn’t quite sound like a rock and roll profile, doesn’t it?
  6. Because of a particular situation that I won’t detail here cause there’s no sense in it, today I had, on paper, about $130.000 and the next day I had nothing. Well, at least I am healthy!
  7. I love you guys, I read you every day and you make my day with your daily posts about guitars. I am into programming, web, marketing, etc, thus I should read a lot about these topics. I actually do, but nothing makes my day better than your posts about guitars. That is why I will also tag people from the same area of interests: guitars!

Well, I actually realized that these 7 semi-useless facts touched a more personal side, revealing things you didn’t know about me, so the tag be more interesting. So, why don’t you keep the same idea and tell us 7 semi-useless spiced up facts about you?

Should be interesting!

Let’s see, people I tag are:

  1. Jon from GuitarNoize.com
  2. Jack Pribek from Pribek.net
  3. Dr J from ControlRoom
  4. Danny from GuitarPlayersCenter.com
  5. JP from Stratoblogster
  6. GLW from Guitarz
  7. Jeff from GuitarPlayersZen.com

Great post! Now this meme will make the leap from the techy open source world to a more musical set of posters.

Whew! For a minute there I thought this was a Skull and Bones initiation…. but now I see it is the least commented-on post in cyber-space as of this hour, by J, JP, GLW, Pribe, Dr J, and two others.

So, in honour of your effort, I will graciously tell you seven things about Jack Pribek that could be considered semi-useless. But first I must have your okay on bending the rules this way… and if you plan to moderate the list… may be well-advised.

Great insight into you, btw, always a pleasure to visit over here. pd

Okay, we’ll call this one a collision of galaxies, includes both people from my point of view, you axed for it:
1 When I first met old Jack he was working crowds in Washington, MO. That’s where the Big Wal-Mart is… uhn-huh… yep, SuperCentre Wal-Mart.
2 Jack being a night worker, but also an early riser, you could see him walking all over the town during the day, he didn’t have a car then.
“I see that guy walking all around,” patrons in the bars would say.
3 He told me and his Dad that he had finally found work where he could drink Tequila on the job, ie Honky Tonk gigs all over MO. The band was called the Fugitives, and it was like landing a B-29 Flying Fortress on stage at those Honky Tonks. Too bad it was all wasted on Missourians. [joke]
4 One day I stopped by Roskowske’s Music Store, and they said Jack was walking home. It was pouring down rain; drops coming down like frisbees… so I drove that way and found him walking in the rain. “I said you need a ride?” I must’ve interrupted some sort of Zen mindset, because he stood in the rain, pausing as his mind did some sort of backup file thing, you could see it in his eyes, but he said, “Yeah, all right.”
5 Jack was Best Man at our wedding Dec 12, 1992, at Cook County Courthouse, IL. It was -10 degrees below zero that morning. He and my to be wife stayed up the whole night before drinking Sambuca… I was snoring by 9 PM. But everyone was a trooper next morning, and “Got ‘er Done.”
6 Sometime after that, Jack was smitten, married, and settled in Branson area. We couldn’t make the wedding. He called us in Chicago one day and asked me “if he should build the house on the rock, or in the rock.”
“I said It is expensive to cut into rock…” and we left it there. Follow up I called and He said “the foundation guy went ahead and cut into the rock ledge…” Cool.
7 Oh yeah; back when I first met Jack he was guitar teacher at Ron’s store, and minding the store part-time, days. I took lessons, mainly to keep my fingers limber: metal bending is tough on fingers and hands. One day after lessons, I said “hey lets go eat.”
He said, “Say, are you Gay?”
I said, “No. Why do you ask?”
He said, “Well, you know I just like to get things answered upfront.”

That’s my Report from the Middle, where women are strong, men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.
Oh, yeah, number 8, Jack is a nice guy; just don’t let word get around, okay then. Thanks for the chance to ride memory lane. pd

Ohoo, PD, thanks for this interesting list on Jack, I only hope he won’t mind because we speak about himself ;-)

I especially enjoyed 5 and 7, I didn’t know you know Jack that good, to be your Best Man, nice to know that. Number 7 is a gem! :-) )

Well, there you have it. That list is way more entertaining than any I would have come up with on my own. And, some of it is even true!
Good going on the MBA Ovidiu and best to you.

You cannot have a BS and an MS in the same field. You either have one or the other. If you have a Masters (not a Master), then you no longer are at the Bachelor’s level. I call bullshit, you don’t have either. Else you would know the proper terminology. Either way, I’ve never heard of a MS in Electronics. It goes to MSEE (electrical engineering) from BSEET. Maybe you got a bullshit online degree and that’s where your 130,000 went?

Well, Boris, you are probably right, I will check with at my University to see from what site they took my two diplomas in Electronic cause they look fine to me ;-)

Regarding the MS in Electronics, I’ve never paid too much attention to calling it one way or the other, it just says so on my diploma that by coincidence I have it with me today here. Also the English terminology may not be quite exact, since everything on my diplomas is in Romanian, but I guess you know better what should be written on my University diploma, after all…Right?
