I’ve just found this video with Metallica’s Kirk Hammett trying to learn a riff that just doesn’t want to get in there…
Honestly I amused myself watching this and I remembered about asking myself, years ago, how they did that famous ending part in “One”. I have always considered that part (the speed part) the result of work, not inspiration, because you actually need to count and remember in order to get things right. Especially when that part implies that the whole band stop together, all at once. Imagine how it would have sounded if Kirk would have played one more note when everybody suddenly stopped…
And I love the face he makes at the end…
Now Stumble that!

Poor guy!
I like this idea though. You should post more pro guitar players’ mess ups. It is nice to see we are not the only ones who suck at guitar haha!

I also find it funny to watch, after all, it is not about skills, some things just don’t work for you…

Well, the good news for Hammett is that the band has totally abandoned this horrible album.

It’s nice to see a pro having trouble too.
I can’t criticize his playing, I have a long way to go just to keep the neighbors from complaining.

Great, even outstanding guitar players have trouble sometimes.

Kirk should leave Metallica. His skill would probably be put to use with someone else.

Damn, Kirk is such a Joe Satriani hack.
He should just give it up.
Someone who has been at the level hes been at for so long should not have been having that big of a problem with the riff.
You can see it in the faces of the rest of guys. That holy shit, I can’t believe people think he’s so good, look.
Listen to the solo’s, Kirk just copies Joe Satriani and all his solo’s sound the same. When James solo’s, it’s actually his sound, and his solo’s are unique. Not just the same arpeggios over and over again. Which is the trademark of the Satriani style, Steve Vai also suffers from it.
